Barbell Plate Calculator

Type the weight you want and see exactly which plates go on each side. Or tap the plates you’ve loaded and see what you’re lifting. I built this for myself: the bar is 45 and a plate is 45, but once you mix 45s, 35s and 25s the maths gets hard at the rack.

Does the bar count?

  • On barbell lifts (squat, bench, deadlift) the bar counts. A standard bar is 45 lb or 20 kg.
  • Not every bar weighs that. If yours is lighter or heavier, change the bar weight above.
  • On a leg press or other plate-loaded machine, most people log the plates only. The sled’s weight differs from machine to machine, so pick one way and stick to it.
  • What matters is that you count the same way every session, so your numbers compare.
